Amanda Jeffres, RN | Executive Director / Public Health Nurse

Amanda Jeffres is a dedicated professional who earned her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Midland University in Fremont in 2007. Her journey at Loup Basin Public Health Department began in September 2013 when she joined as the coordinator for the influenza vaccination program. Over the years, Amanda has made significant contributions, establishing both childhood and adult immunization programs while also taking the lead as the coordinator for on-site wellness screenings provided to local schools and businesses.

In 2010, Amanda expanded her expertise by becoming a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. This certification continues to play a crucial role in her public health work, where she actively contributes to ensuring the safety of children in our community. Amanda conducts inspection events and offers education to individuals seeking guidance on the proper installation of child passenger safety seats.

Demonstrating her commitment and leadership capabilities, Amanda transitioned into the role of Assistant Director at Loup Basin Public Health Department in January 2018. Recognizing her outstanding contributions, the Board of Health voted in November 2020 to appoint Amanda as Co-Director. Following the retirement of the founding director, Charles Cone, in April 2021, Amanda assumed the position of sole Executive Director.

Danielle Thoene |  Clinical Services Manager

Danielle Thoene's professional journey began in the fall of 2006 when she joined the health department as an intern from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Her commitment and hard work during this part-time role allowed her to explore various aspects of the health department, with a focus on emergency preparedness and health education. Upon completing her Bachelor of Science degree in May 2009, Danielle's dedication was rewarded with a full-time position.

With a wealth of experience accumulated over the years, Danielle played a pivotal role in Loup Basin's clinical services division. She took charge of in-house Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid billing for both medical and dental services, showcasing her versatility. Additionally, her involvement in the live + well program underscored her commitment to comprehensive healthcare.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Danielle reached a career milestone in November 2023, being promoted to the esteemed position of Clinical Services Manager. This achievement reflects not only her professional growth but also her unwavering dedication to advancing healthcare services within the community.

Stephanie Gideon | Accounting / Human Resources

Stephanie started at the Health Department in November 2014.  She attended Central Community College in Hastings and began working as the administrative assistant at Loup Basin Public Health Department when first hired.  In the spring of 2015, she took over the accounting duties for the Health Department.

Stephanie is responsible for accounting duties at LBPHD, monthly and annual reporting. Before taking over the role as Accounting and HR she assisted with Well @ Work, Smiles, and immunization programs and was in charge of accreditation for LBPHD.

Terry Stutzman | Administrative Assistant  | Family Support Specialist.

Terry began working at Loup Basin Public Health Department in July 2015. She graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with a Bachelor's of Science in Education. In addition to her Administrative Assistant responsibilities, Terry also assists with Community Hub as a Community Health Worker. In 2023 Terry took on a new role as a Family Support Specialist within the new Healthy Families America- Loup Basin program.

Catie Larsen | Emergency Response Coordinator

Catie attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska and graduated in 2009 with her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science. In April 2018, she accepted the Emergency Response Coordinator position with the Health Department. 

Catie is responsible for coordinating the activities of the area's emergency response plans. This may include: establishing good working relationships with medical, public health and emergency response partners.  Catie also helps coordinate table top and full scale exercises to help the community be better prepared for when a disaster or emergency occurs.

Jolene Gydesen | Communications Specialist

​In August 2020, Jolene accepted a position with Loup Basin Public Health Department as a Public Health Case Investigator to assist the local health department with COVID-19 response. In June 2021 she took on a new role as the Communications Specialist.

Shelby Galvan | Accreditation Coordinator

​Shelby Galvan started at the Loup Basin Health Department in June 2021. Shelby graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2018 with her Bachelors in Business Administration with and emphasis in Management. In 2022 Shelby has taken over the new role as our Accreditation Coordinator, working towards getting the health department accredited in 2023.

Claire Snyder, RDH | Public Health Dental Hygienist

​Claire graduated from Central Community College in Hastings with an Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. She started at LBPHD in January 2022. Claire will be involved with the LB Smiles program at the health department.

Sarah Raiford, RN | Public Health Nurse

Sarah graduated from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree in 2018. Sarah started at the Loup Basin Public Health Department in April 2022. In 2023 Sarah accepted the new role of the Disease Response Coordinator, the Lead Poisoning investigator, and managing the Opioid Prevention Program for the Health Department. She also manages the distribution of COVID tests, runs the HAI/N95 Strike Team, and reviews policies for the Health Department.

Lily Gideon, | Administration Assistant

Lily started at Loup Basin Public Health Department in June 2023. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2022 with a Bachelors in General Studies. Lily will be the one who greets you upon your arrival!

Emily Smith | Healthy Families Program Manager

Emily Smith joined the health department in August of 2023.  She graduated in 2013 from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a degree in early childhood education.  Emily taught preschool and then moved to a position with the Early development network as a services coordinator.

MiKayla Wetzel | Family Support Specialist

MiKayla, a dedicated professional, joined LBPHD in July 2023, taking on the role of Family Support Specialist for the newly established Healthy Families of America program. Graduating with an Administrative Professional Degree from Northeast Community College in Norfolk in 2018, MiKayla brought a solid foundation of skills to her position.
Recognizing the importance of child safety, MiKayla expanded her expertise by becoming a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician in August 2023. This certification not only equips her to ensure the well-being of families within the Healthy Families of America program but also allows her to extend valuable education to individuals in the communities supported by LBPHD.
In September 2023, MiKayla embraced additional responsibilities, accepting the role of Outreach Coordinator for the Healthy Families of America program. This role enables her to foster connections and expand the reach of the program, demonstrating her commitment to community engagement and support.

Dan Scott | Public Health Paramedic/Preventative Services Coordinator

Dan Scott's professional journey as a Paramedic began in August 2006 after earning his degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Prior to that, he dedicated 21 years to serving as an EMT. Since 2006, Dan has been dedicated to transporting sick and injured patients between hospitals.

Dan also serves his community as a Volunteer Fire Chief. He is also actively involved in the Nebraska CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) Team, providing crucial support during challenging times.

In February 2024, Dan took on a new role as the Public Health Paramedic and Preventative Services Coordinator at Loup Basin Public Health Department. In this position, he will play a vital role in administering vaccines as needed, overseeing Colon Cancer Screenings, and managing The Arborvirus/Vector Control Grant.

Bailey Trofholz | Immunization Program Coordinator

Bailey graduated from UNMC College of Nursing in 2021 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Bailey started at Loup Basin Public Health Department in March 2024, accepting the role of Immunization Program Coordinator. Bailey will be responsible for coordinating immunization clinics throughout the community, administering immunizations, and overseeing the immunization program at Loup Basin Public Health Department.

Cindy Gabriel | Family Support Specialist

Cindy attended Midland University in Fremont and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services and an Associates of Arts in Education. She has dedicated her career to working in the Human Services field. She spent most of her time as a Service Coordinator for the Area Agencies on Aging in both Iowa and Nebraska. She also has experience as an Intern and Co-teacher for Head Start, along with interning for Big Brothers, Big Sisters.  

Cindy started in April 2024 and her role will be with the Healthy Families of America Program as a Family Support Specialist.
