Certified Lactation Counseling

Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs) are trained clinical providers who promote, protect, and support breastfeeding and human lactation. They help prevent and resolve feeding challenges while recognizing that successful feeding happens in a culture of support—and with providers who are culturally competent. CLCs use a counseling-based approach, honoring that each parent’s values, goals, and decisions are personal and deserve respect. While they specialize in breastfeeding, CLCs also provide compassionate, evidence-based support for formula feeding, pumping, combination feeding, and all infant feeding choices—because every family deserves informed care, no matter how they feed their baby.
